Happy New Year

Hello all of my friend !!!

I wish you all will healthy and happy. I still don't have any plan now for New Year's Celebration. I always annoyed the place that many people gathering together. My mid-term exam will be on 9th Jan 2007, I have no time for any trip or party. I'm too nervous to do anything. I try to spend time for my exam's preparation, I'm so worry about legal term because there will be a part of the exam that I must give the definition of that word, it's very difficult for me.

Another part of the exam is about Essay, 50% for all of the marks. I got grade "C" for my first essay, but this time I must improve all of my skills and I hope it will be better.

The Movie "A Time to Kill" [2nd]

Today is the second day that my teacher shows the movie for us. Last time, we reached in the scene that Jake talking with his wife, Carla, at the airport. For the rest of the story is about the fighting in courtroom between Jake Brigance, defendant and Rufus Buckley, District Attorney. Another side of courtroom is the fighting of Ku Klux Klan and Black People, the difference of two sides is strategy. Inside courtroom, Jake and Rufus were attacking each others with their speech and evidence. Outside Courtroom, Ku Klux Klan and Black People were attacking each others by forced.

Carl Lee's opportunity seems to be destroyed by Rufus when he discredited an important professional witness of the defendant, Dr.W.T. Bass. Rufus informed the jury about the felony case of Dr.Bass which he raped an under teenager. Then, Jake and Carl Lee had an argument about this. Carl Lee felt that Jake also looks down at him as black people in the same way like another white people do.

When the final speech of Rufus Buckley and Jake Brigance came....Rufus probably win this game, he shouted at the jury "Carl Lee must be found Guilty!!!". Then, when Jake had the right to annouce his final speech. He told the jury that he had a story to tell them. When the jury closed their eyes, he told them to picture a little girl was attacked by the two rapists, beaten and raped. She was a white little girl.

Outside courtroom was in silence, the both Ku Klux Klan and Black People were waiting for jury's decision. Jake won this game, Carl lee was found not guilty. And this is very beautiful happy ending. However, It wasn't worth for life of innocent people. That was shown us how terrible the crime could done.

The Movie "A Time to Kill"

Today, my teacher let's us see the movie "A Time to Kill". It's very great because all the times that I read the story in the book, I used just my imagination and I don't know how much brutality of Ozzie Walls?, how much sentitive person of Jake Brigance?, How much self-confidence of Rufus Buckley? etc. That is the book cannot gives me but the movie can do it.

When I read the book, I didn't feel much about the story but I knew that it's very sad for Carl Lee and very exciting stoty. I feel the big difference between the book and the movie. When I watch the movie, I can absorb the feeling of each characters in each scene. Each character surprising me very much such as Harry Rex Vonner looks better than I thought when I read in my book, The two rapists Billy Ray Cobb and Pete Willard looks terrible than in the book, Ellen Roark looks smart and beautiful than I thought because she is Sandra Bullock ^-^.

There are so many difference between the book and the movie. Conversation in the movie make me confused. In the book, John Grisham had written "Jake have to move the trial to another county." but in the movie said "Jake have to change the venue." Big difference and I don't understand it till my teacher gives me the explanation. So, I think I finding some extra information from the movie as my teacher had said, but it would be better if I read the story in my book.

Jury

Today, I have English for Law class at 3.30-5.00 P.M. as usaul and my teacher organized some special activity. He gave almost everyone the role such as Judge Noose, Jake Brigance, Rufus Buckley, Carl Lee etc. He gave us the situation in courtroom and watched student play in thier role.

I think this activity was very interesting because student in the class could felt the atmosphere of the courtroom and they could practice and learn. Everybody seem to be very shy and excited about their role because my teacher gave them unappropriated role. My friend is a boy but he must play in girl's role [Mrs.Willard] that's funny. Actually, my teacher told me that we will have conversation or some special activity on every thursday but I think today is the best.

He also told us that the mid-term exam are coming up soon. I'm not sure but I think it will be on 3rd January 2007 after my New Year's Celebration that very close to my holidays, I afraid about the time.

This is my first time in my own blog, let me introduce myself. My name is Mr.Kaveewat Aketharapipat. My nickname is "Paint" and If it possible, I will please if Arjarn Jasper could remember my nickname. I'm 18 years old. Nowaday, I studying at Assumption University in Faculty of Law. Actually, I fascinated in guitar or all kind of music and I loved to trying every musical instrument. So, I interested about the legal after the entrance exam, I asked myself what should I do? If I fail in the exam and I can't finding some university. I got the answer because I thought that law is the essential pieces of the society which could be connect and control all of the system of the society. Everybody can't take the law in their own hand that's mean everybody must be order in society's rule. The result is the people can live together with peace, not too much confliction, that's why the benefit and advantage of the law. I decided after I failed in the entrance examination that I want to learn more about law

This is my the second semester of the first year at ABAC. I passed all of subject in the first semester, that's really great for me. But, in this semester, it quiet difficult for me because I learn English for Law 1 and my teacher is a foreigner. I must talking in english all the time in class, that's very good chance to practice english but this is unfamiliar for me and I'm really worry about my mistake speech and my accents. I also learn to remember plenty of legal terms. By now, I feel better because I can adapt my listening skill, I understand what my teacher wants me to know. I think that I must improve my poor english skill quickly such as listening skill, writing skill, or especially talking skill. I felt really upset when my teacher sent me back my first essay and he gave me grade "C". I did it my best as well as I could but I still got just grade "C". So, my teacher suggested me to learn free english grammar courses. If I get 10 hours from this course, my teacher will give me 5% from all of the point.

English for Law 1, we study about a famous book "A Time to Kill" by famous author "John Grisham" and this story also based from true event, it is a spectacular movie.This book made me know about America Legal System different from Thai Legal System. In the story, the case was judged by the jury that is the America Legal System, but in Thai Legal System every cases will be decided by the judge.

I hope that I will be better in English skills when the mid-term exam coming up.
